Karma just takes too long Sir!
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has apologized for the comments he made at a conference where he said that women should not ask for a raise , they should trust 'karma' and should have faith in system. His comments have sparked antagonism among female techies and various professional leaders. Isn't this fiercely sexist to tell women for not asking pay raises? Recollecting your Indian roots in this controversial manner was not expected from you dear Satya! But as we all know Karma is such a bitch and it has always missed on so many people :D so we can't trust it. Ironically he is from the industry where there is no gender diversity. but it is good that he clearly apologized and did not twist his words. He just accepted that he was completely wrong and said that he learnt a valuable lesson.
So after this incident I went through corporate Gender Gap Report brought out by world economic forum which says that India has the lowest percentage of women employees and also if you see the report "Women On Boards" by Biz divas and Khetan Co., you will find that only 4% of Indian company directors are women. These findings tell about the gender inequality existing in corporate world. Even at higher level of education, after academic achievements, gender pay gap is higher. Companies need to measure these differences and should take steps to reduce this gender gap. We women should also need not to compromise and should learn how to negotiate. After all its our right and there is nothing wrong in asking for what we deserve.
I agree with you rasna. But this inequality has its roots so deep in our country that it's very difficult to unroot it.
