Amie Ki Jawani

Amie was just 15 days old when I brought her home from a vet clinic without telling my parents. For years we have been asking our parents for a puppy but they were always saying no. One day my brother and I took money out of mom’s drawer and headed to pet clinic.

We asked for a yellow lab because of our love for the color but doctor told it will be available after 3-4 days. What little patience we had was waning fast and we were uncertain about coming back again. Suddenly I felt something grabbing my toes and feet and saw that tiny little Amie was licking my shoe. “Aww, too adorable, I want to eat you up”, I said and took her in my hands. She was a black lab…why Racism? We forgot about the color and that’s how we got her. I named her Amie because I studied French in my college :D

She turned out to be very naughty and attention seeking. She is very famous in the locality for her stupid acts and habit of throwing a temper tantrum like a toddler. She is loved by everyone in the family despite her being very moody and stubborn. Especially my sisters, they take care of her a lot since I moved to Bangalore. She just turned 3 in last June and since then she is causing utter irritation and anger especially during her heat cycle. We were planning to have her neutered but two days back she got caught with a street dog, making love… she cleverly escaped from the house to meet her lover. When my sister saw her, being embarrassed, she furiously tried to separate them from each other. One aunty told "beta aise ni karte…paap padta hai "(it’s a sin). Somehow my sis managed to get her inside the house. She called the doctor immediately and told about how our girl accidentally got mis-mated. He told about his line breeding plan and was charging some 3500 Rs for that.

My dad took Amie to his friend’s house who owns a male lab in order to save money for mating: D But after seeing the dog, she started growling and barking, baring her jagged teeth and scaring him off. She jumped on the sofa and sat there... The poor dog was hiding under bed. Mission Failed! After some time, Uncle brought his dog in to our house. Both the pets were kept in a room together and the door was open but whenever that dog tried to make a move, she threw him a stern look. The dog failed to impress her so finally nothing happened. Mission over!

My sis called me to discuss her frustration. She asked me why did u get a female lab…I can’t control her every day. She always tries to escape. And she gets horny during these days. Why she doesn’t like labs. Why is she too much into street dogs. And I was laughing like anything…

In the evening, doctor sent his assistants with a Vicky donor (a cream colored lab) to our house. Amie pulled her teeth out on him and tried to attack him. Those people covered Amie’s mouth with a cap to avoid biting. They kept her with that dog in a room and locked it. After that I don’t know what happened :D
